Want to give mountain biking a go?

Got a mountain bike and want some company?

Come along to our weekly women’s mountain bike rides!

We aim to cater for all abilities of riding on various loops consisting of a mixture of single-track, 4wd roads as well as sealed and gravel roads.


Every Monday (except public holidays) at various locations in and around Dunedin. Meeting dates, locations, and times are posted on the Mountainbiking Otago website each week in the Women’s Rides forum.

Total Ride Time: 

Approx. 1 – 2 hrs.  It is highly recommended that you have a basic level of fitness and are currently riding somewhere between 2 - 4 times a week.

What to bring:

Basic bike maintenance gear. E.g.

  • spare tube
  • pump
  • tire levers

In the cooler and darker months also bring:

  • warm clothes
  • lights appropriate for single track riding

We do our best to post in advance but from time to time we get busy or we are waiting to see what the weather is going to do but we aim to post by the Sunday evening before the ride.  Sometimes the weather doesn’t play ball so we will post a cancellation on the forum.  Also use common sense to judge whether or not a ride will be on.

In most instances we aim to meet close to the ride route to avoid riding in big groups through town during rush hour traffic.  This is in the interests of rider safety.
