On Sunday we'll create a new bit of track to link the Haggis Basher up to the grass area at the top of Signal. This is so it will have it's own starting point rather than coming off the Jumps Track…Continue

On Sunday we'll create a new bit of track to link the Haggis Basher up to the grass area at the top of Signal. This is so it will have it's own starting point rather than coming off the Jumps Track (hopefully this will get a few more people using it). If we have extra people then we can do a bit of drainage work on The Mrs as well. Drive or ride to the top of the hill and we'll be pretty easy to find. Hamish 027 442 6474…See More

Big Easy Drainage Fixing (Saturday 10th)

Chris Gough from Mosgiel Mini Digger Hire is lending us a small excavator this weekend to do some drainage work on Signal Hill. The plan is to start at the top of the Big Easy around 10am then run down the top section of the track and clean out the water tables. We'll also install another couple of culverts and some side drains which should stop water from ponding / running down the track. While we're up there we'll also cut some dra...ins beside The Mrs to try and keep some seepage off the…See More

Sunday work parties (MTB Church) – 9am Nicols Creek

The weather forecast for the weekend isn't that flash, so if you're not riding your bike on Sunday, feel free to pop up and help with a bit of track maintenance. We'll repair the last of the pig-rooting damage just above the big macrocarpa trees.  Basically grubber and shovel work to reinstate the edge of the track.  We'll also cart some gravel up using the tracked dumper then wheel barrow it down the track. If it's not too wet then we'll drive up through the farm next door (going to fix up the…See More

Big thanks to Adrian, Wilson, Pete and Justin for helping to fix up a problem section of track at Nicols last Sunday. We warmed up by clearing the last of the fence line so it's ready for inspection by the fencer. That only took half an hour so we thought we would fix up the drainage through the clearing below the big…See More

Sunday work parties (MTB Church) - 8am Nicols Creek

This Sunday we're going to clear the bush along the boundary between Nicols Creek and Anderson's farm. The boundary fence is pretty knackered so we’re pitching in to help replace it. The Andersons have been very generous allowing us access through their farm to build and maintain the track up Nicols Creek, so helping with the fence is a way we can pay them back. There’s also a little bit of self-interest at play, as they’re allowing us to re-route the lower part of the fence so we can open up…See More

Sunday work parties (MTB Church) - 8am Signal Hill

This Sunday we'll finish off chopping back gorse and vegetation on the Big Easy so it's clear for winter riding. We had a good crack at this back in February but didn't manage to do the bit between the top of the 4X track and the Water Tank track.Meet at the shed at Logan Park HS at 8am then we'll shuttle everyone up the 4WD track. We've got 3 scrub bars and hand tools, but the more the merrier. Bring gloves, boots and PPE if you bring a cutting machine. The DCC is paying for a bunch of us to do…See More
