The difference a gutter makes on the side of the track makes. This was always a bog after rain but now pretty good.

Thanks G

Went up today for some market reserch. Bring on the digger me things as drainage shows good resaults. checked the gravel with a pick and all three piles seem good as no problem to loosen up.

Hi Mike

Yep - that's the wettest I've ever seen it up there.  Water is coming out of places it never used to, and the track is cutting up in places that always used to be ok.  Partly caused by a lot more people using it I think.

All going well we'll start shingling in 2 or 3 weeks.  We've now got a shingle trailer that works really well.  It's currently being used by contractors on the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail, and they will be finished with it in 2 weeks.

The digger has just had a bit of an overhaul.  Glyn needs to put the radiator back in and do a few tests on one of the drive motors then she'll hopefully be good to go.  Just need to make a decision as to whether the digger spends a week or two at Wakari getting the pump track roughed out, or if it goes straight over to Signal for shingling. Have a trails sub-committee meeting week after next to make that call.

Have millings ready for 4500m of the track, so if we're shingling 200m/day, we'll be up for 23 days shingling, so about 2 months work if we can roster people on 3 days a week.  Will post an update on the plan after the trails meeting.

Stuff the pump track go straight to signal and get the big easy finished before it gets completely ripped to shreds.

very true Philip but the track already shreded

Went for a walk up there and gutted at the condition of the track. There are long ruts being created. On a bright note the soft ground will be great for the gravel bedding in :-)

I've got a lot of leave owing... just point me in the right direction.

Stopped riding it a few weeks ago, miss the Signal-Ravey lunchtime loop.

What's up with all the bus-stops being cut in?

Hi Scott.

We are looking to get the digger and tractor trailer unit up on signal hill in a couple of weeks. The digger is in the process of being repaired so as soon as we get that it is all go. If you want to help out then we can add your name to the list of people :)

As for the bus-stops, I guess you refering to the lines of the main tract. That is my handy work, the intent was to make the big easy a bit of fun for novice riders on the ride down. When the track is graveled I believe that the intent is to get onto a Hammies type track (Gondala track)

Cheers Mike
