Big thanks to Adrian, Wilson, Pete and Justin for helping to fix up a problem section of track at Nicols last Sunday. We warmed up by clearing the last of the fence line so it's ready for inspection by the fencer.

That only took half an hour so we thought we would fix up the drainage through the clearing below the big macrocarpas. There's a lot of run off from the paddock next door so each year it goes soft and needs fixing. Since the digger was close by we dug a big buffer ditch, then put a couple of culverts.

To keep the chainsaws busy we thought we would deal to the gorse and broom, so Adrian and Wilson started knocking it down.

Pete got started with the dumper to resurface the soft bits of the track, and Justin kept the way clear for the saws.

An hour later it was like a tornado had come through.

The digger made pretty short work of hiding all the trimmings.  The visibility around the corner has improved a little.

We filled in the soft bits of the track so it shouldn't cut out any more.

There shouldn't be any need to take the line through the grass any more.

The lesson learnt is if you think you might need a culvert

best put one in.
