On Monday we carted 90 ton of gravel up through the farm next to Nicols Creek. The farm paddocks start to get pretty slippery around this time of year, so this sets us up to do some work parties over winter. 20 tons goes towards gravelling the climbing line past the macrocarpa trees, and 70 tons heads right up past the picnic table.
Glyn spent a good half day in the truck. Sitting might have been good for his gammy leg, but I think his kidneys took a bit of a beating. Cam did digger duty loading at the bottom, and Mark came up to the top and ran the dumper for much of the day. Between us we carted around 15 ton to the top via the fence line, so another 30-40 hours on the dumper should see the rest up there. If anyone knows of a larger 2 ton dumper we can hire or borrow, let us know!
Huge thanks to the Andersons for allowing us access through their farm, to Doug Hall for lending us his 4WD truck for the day, and to Blackhead Quarry for helping out with the gravel.

On Sunday we did a bit of impromptu gravelling up on Nicols - covering off about 2/3 of the climbing line past the big macrocarpas.  The forecast for Sunday was pretty bad and Wilson and Adrian were keen for something to do.  I think there was also a bit of self-interest involved, as Wilson doesn't like having to clean his bike and the climbing line was starting to get cut up a bit.
We made pretty quick work of it, using the little tracked dumper and wheel barrows to cart, plus the tractor to load.

\uap>Wilson and Daniel did rake duty, then helped with compacting.

\uap>We spread about 12 ton covering 150m of track, and will do the remaining 70m when we restart Sunday 'MTB church' sessions the weekend after Naseby.
