Sad news - Mike Croucher is laying down his grubber and leaving Dunedin.
Over the last 3-4 years Mike has been a part-time resident of Signal Hill, building and maintaining tracks. He started off fixing drainage and barrowing gravel on the Big Easy to keep the mud at bay. He then built Debacle, the Quarry Track, made The Mrs, moved onto The Mistress, and has just completed the last section which will likely have Mike in the name somehow. Mike's done a lot of this work single-handed, with help from his SigDigs Tuesday night crew. It's been a huge effort and one that is greatly appreciated by everyone using the hill.
Mountainbiking Otago would like to wish Mike and Sarah well for their new adventure. Next Tuesday, rather than digging, Mike's going to go for a ride on his creations, then pop out for a quiet beer. If you'd like to thank the man in person, feel free to attend.
Here's Mike and crew with a "Thanks Mike" cake that got a little beat up on it's way up the hill, but still tasted mighty good.
